The GWRI Satellite Data Acquisition Facility

Near real-time infrared satellite images of the Southeast are now online and available for viewing.   Established in 1999 with funding from the Georgia Research Alliance, the GWRI satellite facility captures data from both geosynchronous and polar orbiting satellites (GOES, NOAA).

Data from the facility is used by GWRI for developing new precipitation estimation and drought forecasting methods.
